F-riendly (Not Really) Rahi

  • Fader Bull

Rahi_Fader_Bull.png

The peaceful, herbivorous Fader Bull may look like easy prey for a predator, but it is actually one of the hardest Rahi to capture. This Rahi has a mysterious natural ability similar to the effect of a teleportation Kanoka disk. When threatened, the Fader Bull vanishes, leaving a ghostly afterimage that gradually fades away. The bull then reappears somewhere away from danger. Sadly, they often teleport themselves inside walls or solid objects and die. Whether the Rahi are able to control the distance or direction of their teleportation is unknown.

  • Fenrakk

Fenrakk in the 2006 Titan Promo Animation.

Fenrakk are spider-like Rahi that could be found on Voya Nui.

Enlarged Fenrakk

When Vezon entered the Chamber of Life and touched the Kanohi Ignika, it placed a curse upon him, enlarging a normal-sized Fenrakk spider and fusing it with the Piraka, turning the two into its new guardians. There the two waited for somebody to claim the Ignika from them.

Soon the Piraka arrived to attempt to take the Ignika for themselves, but stopped short upon encountering their former ally and his vicious arachnid counterpart. Vezon dispatched them easily, transforming Vezok and Reidak of them into a hulking combination of the two which dispatched the other four.

The Toa Inika soon burst into the chamber as well, just in time to see Vezon defuse the beast, rendering all the Piraka incapacitated. Fenrakk charged the Toa, engaging them in combat. During the battle, Vezon showed off their shared ability to absorb kinetic force by slamming Fenrakk repeatedly with a rock. While fighting, Jaller attempted to force Vezon and his mount back towards a lava, in order to get them to surrender. Much to the Toa’s surprise, Vezon instead willingly urged his steed into the lava, where the Ignika transformed the enlarged Fenrakk into the Kardas Dragon.

  • Fenrakk Spawn Spider

A Fenrakk Spawn Spider

Smaller versions of the normal Fenrakk spiders, the Fenrakk Spawn Spiders were tamed by the Toa Inika and were used as steeds. Nuparu didn’t truly trust these creatures, but Jaller claimed they were a key to defeating the Piraka.

The Fenrakk Spawn Spiders on Voya Nui may not have survived the island’s descent to the Southern Continent.

  • Fikou

A Black Fikou Spider.

Fikou are dangerous tree spiders known to live among the cables of Le-Metru and Onu-Metru whilst in Metru Nui. The vicious spiders love to lurk around high branches and tangled cables and wait for their incredibly strong webs to entangle prey.

On Mata Nui, Fikou were found in the vicinity of Le-Koro. The Matoran of Le-Koro always had to be on guard when swinging through the trees. These Fikou have since returned to Metru Nui.

The Fikou are dangerous when threatened, no matter of the size. They often come in different sub-species, ranging in color from black to orange. One of these sub-species exists on the Southern Continent and possesses both pincers and a stinger. Many of Voya Nui’s Rahi, including the Fikou, may not have survived the island’s return to the Southern Continent.

  • Fire Entity

noimage.jpg

The mysterious Fire Entity is a being completely composed of Fire. This creature was encountered in a vault in one of Teridax’s lairs. It was essentially a figure made up entirely of fire, and was extremely powerful as well as hostile. It could hover by creating an immense thermal updraft and could melt almost anything. Vakama defeated it by sucking all of the heat in the vault into himself. It is still alive, however.

  • Fireflyer

noimage.jpg

The Fireflyers are insectoid Rahi from Ta-Metru that often travel in swarms.

History

When the Toa Metru were in the archives maintenence tunnels, a Rahi named Krahka used her mimicking powers to become an Insect Control Rahkshi. She then attacked Nokama by using her powers to summon a swarm of Fireflyers to her aid, effectively defeating Nokama.

While on Artidax searching for Makuta Miserix, the group consisting of Brutaka, Roodaka, Takadox, Spiriah, Vezon, and Lariska encountered sands that attempted to suck Spiriah into their depths. Roodaka mutated these sands into Fireflyers, freeing the trapped Makuta.

  • First Rahi

noimage.jpg

The First Rahi ever were created by the Great Beings, and were monstrous sea beasts of enormous sizes. Little is known of these Rahi, such as any of their names, where they first lived, or even how many of them that are still alive. Some of these Rahi were captured near the shores of Metru Nui and put into the Archives sub-levels for study instead of stasis. However, they were too destructive, having caused a huge exhibit Rahi breakout and Turaga Dume ordered them to be exiled. And if they ever come back, the Vahki have the right to kill any that comes near the city. The Onu-Matoran Mavrah would not let his research end, however, so he followed the Rahi and chose to live with them. They fought the Toa Metru along with Mavrah and some Kralhi Mavrah had befriended as well while the Toa were attempting to reach the island of Mata Nui. Some were either killed by pursuing Vahki Vorzakh or devoured by their compatriots. By the battle’s end, the rest of the Rahi were driven back underwater and their path to the surface frozen by Nuju.

  • Frost Beetle

The Frost Beetles are heavily armored and clawed creatures that live in Ko-Metru, and are fairly large and hostile. The Frost Beetles seem to possess near Matoran-level intelligence. They live near the crystal Knowledge Towers, which while some deem as a coincidence, others deem as the reason for their intelligence level to be so high (relatively for a Rahi). Frost Beetles are more than capable of driving almost all Rahi life out of Ko-Metru and claiming it as their territory, but instead they spend most of their time trying to force their ways into the Knowledge Towers, even succeeding to break in sometimes. Once inside, they ignore Matoran, Rahi, and Vahki alike — instead, they head straight for the crystals stored inside.

The scholar Matoro theorized that long ago, some beetles managed to acquire and consume several Memory Crystals, somehow absorbing the knowledge stored inside. That knowledge was passed through to the entire species through a hive mind, increasing all of their intelligence levels. They have tasted knowledge, and crave more, although they seem to have yet to learn the difference between Memory Crystals and Knowledge Crystals, often eating the latter type by mistake.

  • Frost Leech

Frostleech.PNG

Frost Leeches are small creatures with incredibly low body temperatures -— so low they have to attach themselves to an object (preferably living) and suck the heat out of it to survive, but they are more of an annoyance than an actual threat. Nuju encountered a Frost Leech in Trial by Fire.

  • Furnace Salamander

Rahi_Furnace_Salamander.png

The Furnace Salamander usually inhabit the dark corners and crevices in Ta-Metru furnaces and Foundries, sharing them with Hikaki. They have long, powerful limbs that let them jump over great distances and scamper quickly across the ground, sharp claws that let them cling to about any surface, and they even have short spiny wings that let them glide over short distances. These creatures are not usually hostile, unless provoked. When endangered, these Rahi attack in large swarms (since they are always in the midst of their nestmates), quickly overcoming a foe. The Salamanders’ bite, as Matoran describe it, are like “a thousand red hot needles.”

While the Morbuzakh was attacking Metru Nui, the salamanders were forced out of the Great Furnace, but the Matoran didn’t view it as significant.

  • Fusa

The Fusa are Rahi known for their powerful hind legs. They were most often found near Po-Koro and along the eastern coast of Mata Nui, and are relatively harmless unless provoked. Their natural enemies include the Muaka and the Takea.
