Matoran villagers of Mata Nui live and work in six villages around the island. Some of them are lucky enough to become Toa.
Jaller:
Jaller was one of the first Matoran to encounter Toa Tahu. They found him while in the Charred Forest, inside a Rahi trap. Tahu cut it easily and turned to the Matoran. Jaller and his team almost attacked Tahu when Vakama stepped forward, informing them who the stranger was.
He was responsible for making Takua a member of the Ta-Koro Guard before the Chronicler went to Ko-Koro. The reason was for Takua to find out what happened to some of his guards which recently disappeared while in Ko-Koro. His worst fears were confirmed when Takua returned, informing him that his guards had been taken by Makuta. Later, he also rescued Takua and his company during the Rahi attack on Kini-Nui, by bringing the aid of the Ta-Matoran Guard to help fight the Rahi.

Jaller became Captain of the Guard of Ta-Koro and the goalie in the Ta-Koro Kolhii team. His athletic ability, devotion to his duty, and no-nonsense manner made him the logical choice to be the right hand of Turaga Vakama. He is loyal to all Matoran and Toa, and did his work diligently, leading the Guard to protect all of Mata Nui. He secretly wished to travel Mata Nui, but understood that he shouldn’t and restrained himself.

Takua:
Takua was originally from the Av-Matoran homeland. He was best friends with Solek.
Takua was among the Av-Matoran who colonized Karda Nui, during which he once talked with Gali and showed his amazement at their skills.
Takua later returned to his original homeland. He was relocated to Metru Nui by the Order of Mata Nui during the Time Slip disguised as a Ta-Matoran, though, due to his lackluster amount of control, his disguise was a poor one. He was the only Av-Matoran placed on Metru Nui. Not much else is known about his history before Metru Nui.
A simple toolmaker in Ta-Metru, Takua also ran a small business in his home (Takua’s Trade Goods), offering souvenirs from other Metru that he had picked up on his travels, which he often did when he was assigned to do work. This habit often attracted a lot of attention from the Vahki squads. A running joke in Ta-Metru was that an entire squad was assigned just to keep watch on Takua.
Sometime during his years on Metru Nui his original mask was damaged and replaced with a Pakari. It never fit very well and it turned blue when worn, as it hadn’t been locked as one color like his previous mask.
Along with all of the Matoran in Metru Nui, Takua was cast into a slumber by Teridax and later rescued and brought to Mata Nui by the Toa Metru.
Little is known of Takua’s history during the 1000 years of quasi-exile on Mata Nui until shortly before the arrival of the Toa Mata. Takua, however, was the one to inform the Turaga about Jaller’s broken mask. Vakama gave Jaller Turaga Lhikan’s old Hau at that time.
Takua once wandered into a stretch of jungle and encountered a Nui-Jaga. He managed to escape by leading it into a Muaka’s cave.
Because he was not content to stay in his village and work, Takua was banished from his home of Ta-Koro. Awakening on a beach, he was told by Jaller that Turaga Whenua had an important job for him. Upon entering Onu-Koro, he learned that Turaga Whenua had been kidnapped by Rahi and that his staff had been stolen. Takua bravely rescued the Turaga and recovered both the staff and the lost Toa Stone of Earth. Whenua informed him that the Rahi had been stepping up their attacks, and that he must continue to help the other villages. As Takua traveled from village to village, he rescued all the Turaga and recovered their staffs and the six Toa Stones. Once he recovered the Toa Stones, the Turaga told him to arrange them around the Kini-Nui. When Takua compiled the Stones, they released a huge beam of energy into the sky, blasting Takua into the air. He landed on the Ta-Koro Beach and was knocked unconscious.
For some reason, the blast had caused Takua to obtain amnesia. He followed Tahu through the Charred Forest and rediscovered the village of Ta-Koro. Once there, he learned from Vakama the legend of the Toa, and heard how the Ta-Matoran had mistaken Tahu for a Rahi, and had tried to attack him. He then warned Takua that he was not yet welcome in Ta-Koro, for the Matoran did not trust travelers. While he was in Ta-Koro, Takua met Jaller, who would end up sharing in his later adventures. Takua returned to the beach, where he found a distressed Ga-Matoran named Macku. Macku told him that Ga-Koro had been attacked by Rahi, and that only she had escaped. Borrowing Macku’s boat, Takua returned to the village of water.
Finding that one of the huts had sunk, Takua learned that Turaga Nokama and the inhabitants of Ga-Koro were trapped inside. Takua dove into the water and retrieved the missing gear from the city pump, returning the hut to the surface. A Tarakava attacked the Matoran as they escaped, but Toa Gali arrived in time to protect them, defeating the Tarakava and removing its Infected Kanohi. Macku told him of Po-Koro, and the Kolhii champion Hewkii who lived there.
Upon arriving in Po-Koro, Takua learned that Hewkii and many of the other Matoran had fallen to an epidemic. Investigating the Comet Balls that were being sold in the market, Takua found a small stone key with an Elemental symbol on it. Takua journeyed to the Quarry, and there found the door which the key opened. Inside, he found the source of the Comet balls and discovered that they were being stored with infected masks and were being guarded by a Nui-Jaga. Takua then guided Toa Pohatu, who had been temporarily blinded by the Nui-Jaga, to knock down the pillars that held up the roof of the cave. After being rescued from the cave, Takua returned to Po-Koro, where the grateful Turaga Onewa gave him a small stone chisel he was to show Turaga Nokama. Upon seeing the chisel, Turaga Nokama appointed him Chronicler and gave him a device known as a Book of Chronicles, with which he could chronicle the events he witnessed. For some reason, Takua had a knack — some would say ill luck — for being present when important things occurred.
Takua continued his journeys, next traveling through Onu-Koro. A lava flow had cut off access to the Lightstone mine, preventing the workers from being able to finish the tunnel to Le-Wahi. After recovering his old Lavaboard from Ta-Koro, Takua crossed the lava flow and repaired the lava pump, allowing the Matoran to mine more Lightstone. Also while in Onu-Koro, Takua learned of a mysterious layer that had been uncovered deep in the Great Mine. Traveling down there, he found a massive Sundial. Once the Le-Koro tunnel was completed, Takua decided to accompany Taipu to visit Le-Koro. While traveling through the jungle, Taipu was carried off by a wild Nui-Rama.
Upon arriving in Le-Koro, Takua learned from Kongu that Matau and many of the Le-Matoran had also been kidnapped by Nui-Rama, and that Toa Lewa was missing. Their talk was cut short by a swarm of Nui-Rama, and Takua agreed to second for Kongu riding a Kahu. After a few rough starts, Takua was able to master Disk throwing well enough to protect the Kahu from the attacking swarm, but upon arrival at the Nui-Rama Hive, they were knocked from the air. Within the hive, Takua discovered that Toa Lewa had accidentally put on an Infected Mask, and witnessed Onua fighting Lewa and removing his mask. When they arrived back at Le-Koro, Takua saw Lewa put his final mask on the Suva and get a Golden Kanohi and his Makoki Stone.
The final village that Takua visited was Ko-Koro. There, after rescuing an almost-frozen Kopeke, he found that Matoro had gone out into the drifts in a blizzard. Following Matoro, Takua succumbed to the cold and had a vision about the Bohrok and was found by Matoro.
After awakening, the two Matoran were attacked by a Muaka, and witnessed Kopaka defeating the beast. Matoro translated for Nuju and gave Takua the mission to take on Matoran from each village to guard the Kini-Nui while the Toa fought Teridax. Takua gathered Kapura, Macku, Hafu, Taipu, Tamaru, and Kopeke; all Matoran he had met on his journey.
Arriving at Kini-Nui, Takua witnessed the Toa fuse the Makoki Stones and enter the underground. The seven Matoran fought away the Rahi while Takua received visions of the Toa Kaita from Gali. Just when the Rahi were about to defeat them, reinforcements arrived from all the six villages, driving away the Rahi. Takua’s last vision from Gali was that of them about to enter Mangaia, Teridax’s lair. At the Kini-Nui, Onepu, who led the Ussalry from Onu-Koro, told Takua that something strange had happened in the underground village. Takua hurried back to Onu-Koro, where he found that the strange Sundial had become an elevator. Entering the underground, he found the Toa and watched them defeat Teridax. Unintentionally left behind, he also saw the awakening of the first of the Bohrok. Luckily, he found that the Chisel Turaga Onewa had given him generated an energy bubble that brought him back to the Ta-Wahi beach. Vakama was there waiting for him, and told him that because of his bravery and selflessness, he was now welcome back in Ta-Koro.
Takua continued his work as Chronicler during the many more adventures he had as a Matoran throughout the war with the Bohrok. He helped liberate Le-Koro, whose entire population was controlled by the Krana. After that, he traveled to Ga-Koro with Jaller, which soon came under attack from the Pahrak. Takua and Jaller were cut off from the rest of the Matoran when the Pahrak demolished several of the pathways between Ga-Koro’s lily pads. However, Takua came up with a makeshift catapult, which he used to launch himself between the Bohrok and the Matoran. Fortunately, it was at this time that the Toa Nuva imprisoned the Bahrag in Protodermis, stopping the Pahrak, as well as all the Bohrok on the island. During the struggle with the Bohrok-Kal, Takua briefly traveled with the Toa Nuva as they went to defeat the Bohrok Kal. After the Kal’s defeat, the Turaga held a Naming Day Ceremony for the Matoran who had helped defeat the Bohrok. While Macku, Jaller, and Hewkii’s names changed, Takua’s name remained the same. The Turaga announced the Wall of History, and Takua’s “honor” was to write the wall. Upset that all he received was a writing job, he held his own personal Naming Day Ceremony, where he renamed his pet Ussal Puku to Pewku. The Turaga also announced a great Kolhii Tournament to celebrate the new peace. Turaga Vakama chose Takua to represent Ta-Koro as the team’s forward, and soon Takua again became the epicenter of an island-changing series of events.
Takua’s greatest adventure began when he wandered off just before the Kolhii championship. Takua discovered the Great Kanohi Avohkii, Mask of Light. At the Kolhii Championship, which Takua’s adventuring had made him and Jaller late for, the Avohkii shone on Takua to indicate he was the one chosen to find the 7th Toa, however Takua tilted it to shine on Jaller, his best friend, instead. Turaga Vakama charged Jaller with the quest, but Jaller got Takua to come with him. The two soon departed with Pewku on their trip to search for the seventh Toa. After traveling most of Mata Nui, the three ended up at Kini-Nui. Almost immediately, Teridax’s Rahkshi began pursuing him, and in a final showdown took the life of Jaller. In his dying breath, Jaller handed Takua the Mask of Light and told him the truth he had seen about Takua’s identity. Takua placed the mask on his face, and was transformed into Takanuva, the Toa of Light.
Aft:
Aft is a Ta-Matoran Lava Farmer who deeply studies the Principle of Ta-Koro, Courage.
When the Rahkshi attacked Ta-Koro, he was evacuated with the other Matoran. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Agni:
Agni was a member of the Ta-Matoran Guard, usually found at the gates of Ta-Koro.
He aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Aodhan:
Aodhan is a Lava Farmer from Ta-Koro. When off duty from farming, Aodhan frequented the south end of the Ta-Koro Town Square. Nothing is known of his life on Metru Nui.
Aodhan was evacuated from Ta-Koro along with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Brander:
Brander is a Ta-Matoran. On Metru Nui, Vakama asked him about Nuhrii while he was searching for him. Brander didn’t believe that the tall Toa was Vakama, so he gave Vakama a test. Vakama had to identify the mask with a flaw. He passed the test, gaining Brander’s trust, and receiving information on Nuhrii.
Brander wore a Kakama in Metru Nui but it was replaced by a black Huna on Mata Nui for an unknown reason.
Brander later became a Crafter on Mata Nui.
During the Rahkshi attack on Mata Nui, Brander was evacuated from Ta-Koro with the other Matoran when they destroyed the village. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Kapura:
As a member of the Ta-Matoran Guard, Kapura was considered by some in Ta-Koro to be slightly slow, but Vakama had great confidence in him and appointed him to stand at his left side. Through the Turaga’s wisdom and much practice, Kapura learned the secret art of traveling very quickly by moving very slowly and concentrating on the place where he was not already at. His slow and deliberate way always remains true to his purpose and he is surprisingly thoughtful, contributing simple but profound wisdom from time to time. Kapura was the first member of the Chronicler’s Company.
He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Kalama:
Kalama is a Ta-Matoran who worked in the Protodermis Reclamation Furnace in Ta-Metru. Many Matoran believed that he had been on the job too long and gone a bit mad, since he spoke to the flawed masks and tools as though they were living beings.
Later, on Mata Nui, Kalama joined the Ta-Matoran Guard. He taught about Duty: “Duty is one of the three virtues described to us by the Great Spirit. All Matoran have a Duty to perform, and the Guard most of all! From Duty comes the Principle.”
Kalama later helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Keahi:
Keahi is a Ta-Matoran and a member of the Ta-Matoran Guard who is well-versed in the Kolhii Skill of Strength. According to Jaller, Keahi is the most courageous member of the Ta-Matoran Guard. He taught Hahli to increase her Strength by kicking Kolhii Balls at columns.
Keahi helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Maglya:
Maglya is a Lava Surfer from Ta-Koro. Nothing is known of his previous years on Metru Nui.
During the Rahkshi attack on Ta-Koro, Magyla was evacuated with the rest of the Matoran there. Following the defeat of the Rahkshi, he helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s, return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Nuhrii:
Nuhrii departed to the Protodermis Reclamation Yard where he went to retrieve a mask which he was working on earlier, and had received a message that the mask was fine. The mask, however, was in fact flawed. In the Protodermis Reclamation Yard, Nuhrii was given a message to travel to the northern regions of Ta-Metru, where he would find the secret of how to make his ultimate mask. However, the site was one of the first sites to be attacked by the Morbuzakh, and the region was mostly abandoned. Nuhrii was then trapped under a pile of rubble, and was rescued by Vakama, who had went in search of him. They were then attacked by a Morbuzakh vine, which grabbed Vakama. Using an enlarging Kanoka Disk, Nuhrii enlarged the vine, and Vakama was able to slip through. The Toa and Matoran quickly departed to the Great Temple. There, with the other Matoran, the Toa Metru discussed everything and deduced that Ahkmou was the traitor based on evidence found all over the island. Onewa wanted to teach him a lesson, but Vakama held him back. The Toa split into pairs, and Nuhrii lead Vakama and Onewa to the Ta-Metru Disk.
They then proceeded to the Great Temple, avoiding a Bordakh squad, and met with the other Toa. With the help of Ehrye, Vhisola, and Nuhrii, they determined that the Morbuzakh King Root would be in the Great Furnace. So they traveled to the Great Furnace, but were attacked by Morbuzakh vines before they could get in. Tehutti, having learned it in the Archives, showed the Matoran how to merge into a Matoran Nui. They (or ‘it’) kept the Morbuzakh at bay while the Toa Metru went in, but returned to their original forms eventually. All of the Matoran were exhilarated, and thought it was a great experience, but Ahkmou backed away and fled into the shadows.
Soon afterwards, Nuhrii was captured by the Vahki and forced into a Matoran Sphere. During his time in the pod he was physically weakened and his memories erased. He was awoken by the Toa Metru, along with the others, on the island of Mata Nui.
Nuhrii lived in Ta-Koro for a thousand years, facing the darkness of Teridax, who menaced the island with his infected Rahi, as a member of the Ta-Matoran Guard. On Mata Nui, his name was changed to Nuri for unknown reasons, but has since been changed back. He also acquired a black Kanohi Kaukau.
He helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Tiribomba:
Tiribomba was a Ta-Matoran Lava Farmer from Ta-Koro on the island of Mata Nui.
When the Rahkshi attacked Ta-Koro, he was evacuated with the other Matoran. Following their defeat he helped in the construction of Boats to assist in the Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where they now reside.
Vohon:
Vohon was a Matoran Trader in Ta-Koro. Nothing is currently known of his life on Metru Nui.

Vohon was evacuated from Ta-Koro along with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack. Following their defeat, he helped in the construction of Boats to make the return trip to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Matoro:
On Mata Nui, Matoro was the sole interpreter of Nuju’s mystical stories, following the meaning of the storyteller’s movements and tones. He always stood motionless on Nuju’s right during storytelling. He struck a narrator’s pose with his legs apart, head back and he using his deep and booming voice to relay Nuju’s wisdom. Matoro had stayed close to Nuju since the Bohrok awoke, so he was close at hand whenever the Turaga held their councils. Because of this, Matoro had borne the burden of knowing the secrets of the Turaga’s past for a very long time, long before the Turaga told the Toa after the events of the Kanohi Avohkii.
Matoro was right hand of Nuju, Kolhii player, interpreter and adventurer. He loved to explore the drifts, leaving behind small flags so he wouldn’t get lost. However, he was often by Nuju’s side, interpreting his gestures and sounds.
Matoro met Kopaka when he landed on a beach, and was mistaken by Kopaka for a hostile enemy. After Kopaka realized who Matoro was, the two went to Nuju, who was discussing the Toa’s mission, Teridax, and Mata Nui, until they arrived with Nuju. Matoro saved the Chronicler when Takua got lost and fell unconscious in the drifts, witnessing a battle between Kopaka and a Muaka in the process. Matoro then came back to Ko-Koro with Takua and translated Nuju for him, telling him to form a small band of Matoran to defend Kini-Nui. After the Sanctum Guard came to the aid of the Chronicler’s Company, he is seen having a conversation with Kopeke.
Later on, Matoro became the Ko-Koro Kolhii forward with his friend Kopeke, but they did not proceed to the Championship in Ta-Koro.
Arktinen:
Arktinen is a Ko-Matoran Icesmith. Nothing is known about his time in Metru Nui before the Great Cataclysm, but during the cataclysm he was placed into a Matoran Sphere and later rescued by the Toa Metru. On Mata Nui, he made Flags for Hahli in exchange for two Nails, a Bamboo Pole, and some Seaweed.
When the Rahkshi attacked Ko-Koro, Arktinen was evacuated with the rest of the Matoran. Following their defeat, he helped construct Boats for the return trip to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Ehrye:
While on Metru Nui, Ehrye was an errand runner for the seers and apprentices in the Knowledge Towers. He somehow learned the location of a Great Disk, and was going to give away the information to a Po-Matoran named Ahkmou for a fee. However, when he went to receive his payment he was welcomed by Nidhiki, a Dark Hunter. When asked for the Great Kanoka Disk, Ehrye refused, for the Great Kanoka Disks were the key to defeating the Morbuzakh, a vine-like being that had recently made several attacks against Metru Nui.
When Nuju became a Toa, Vakama had a vision depicting all of the six Matoran. Using this information, Nuju tracked down Ehrye to a very strange location: the top levels of a crystal Knowledge Towers. Ehrye had been trapped under a bunch of blocks by Nidhiki in anger, systematically designed so it would topple down upon the Matoran if not moved properly and to delay the Toa.
Ehrye was brought to the Great Temple. There, with the other Matoran, the Toa Metru discussed everything and deduced that Ahkmou was the traitor based on evidence found all over the island. Onewa wanted to teach him a lesson, but Vakama held him back.
Whenua, Nuju, Ehrye, and Tehutti journeyed to the Archives of Onu-Metru in search of the Onu-Metru Great Disk, left only with the ominous clue that ‘no door must be left unopened.’ Although there were thousands of doors in the Archives, Tehutti knew what level the Disk was on, but wasn’t allowed to join the Toa in their search. To make sure he and Ehrye didn’t get away, they were both placed in a level of the Archives Tehutti wasn’t familiar with and would surely get lost in if he tried to find a way out. The Toa Metru proceeded into the level, and met with a gigantic Ussal, Frost Leeches, a Two-Headed Tarakava, and an Archives Beast. After using all of their powers, intelligence and hard-earned friendship to find the Onu-Metru Great Disk in a supply closet, they proceeded to Ko-Metru.
At Ko-Metru, they went from Knowledge Tower to Knowledge Tower in search of the Ko-Metru Great Disk, left only with the clue, In Ko-Metru, find where sky and ice are joined.’ Tehutti and Ehrye were left behind, largely because Tehutti had been struck by a Keerakh, losing all sense of time and space and believing he was back in the Archives, cataloging a Fikou spider exhibit. They traveled through the part of Ko-Metru that Ehrye told them the Great Disk was in, evading the Keerakh and swinging from ice cables. Eventually, they found the location of the Great Disk, and while Whenua caused a serious distraction below by tunneling through a road, making the Keerakh leave the area, Nuju went up and grabbed the Great Disk from the middle of an icicle hanging from one of the highest Knowledge Towers.
They then proceeded to the Great Temple, avoiding a Bordakh squad, and met with the other Toa. Using their gained knowledge from Ehrye, Vhisola, and Nuhrii, they deduced that the Morbuzakh King Root would be in the Great Furnace. So they traveled to the Great Furnace, but were attacked by Morbuzakh vines before they got in. Tehutti showed the Matoran something he had learned in the Archives, how to merge into something known as a Matoran Nui. They (or ‘it’) batted off the Morbuzakh while the Toa Metru went in, but returned to their original forms eventually. All of the Matoran were exhilarated, and thought it was a great experience, but Ahkmou backed away and fled into the shadows. Immediately afterward the other five Matoran were captured by Vahki on Teridax’s orders and were placed inside Matoran Spheres.
Ehrye was transported to Mata Nui by the Toa Metru, along with the rest of the Matoran trapped in spheres. He resided in Ko-Koro, although what job he took there is unknown.
One thousand years later, several Rahkshi attacked Mata Nui, forcing the Ko-Matoran to evacuate Ko-Koro. Following this, Ehrye assisted in building Boats to faciliatate his and the other Matoran’s return trip to Metru Nui, where he presently resides.
Jaa:
Jaa is a Ko-Matoran native to Metru Nui. Originally on Metru Nui, Jaa was a Scholar who once assisted Toa Nuju in tracking down Ehrye. He was later captured and placed into a Matoran Sphere, but was rescued by the Toa Metru and reawakened on Mata Nui. In Ko-Koro he was a Scribe, copying Nuju’s translations of the Wall of Prophecy.
Jaa was evacuated from Ko-Koro with the other Ko-Matoran following the Rahkshi’s attack on the village. He then helped in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, and now lives there once more.
Jaatikko:
Jaatikko is a Ko-Matoran of Metru Nui. Nothing is known of his life on Metru Nui before the Great Cataclysm except that he was, at some point, captured by Vahki and placed into a Matoran Sphere and was later saved by the Toa Metru.
On Mata Nui, Jaatikko was an architect in Ko-Koro. He imparted these words of wisdom to Hahli during her travels to Ko-Koro: I look at a snowflake, I see a monastery. I look at the snow, I see Destiny. You shall unite Duty and Destiny. You are the bringer. You are the Snowflake on the Mountain. He also provided her with the Destiny Charm.
Jaatikko fled Ko-Koro with the other Ko-Matoran when the Rahkshi attacked the village. When Metru Nui was rediscovered, he helped build Boats to return to it, and currently resides there.
Kantai:
Kantai is a Ko-Matoran who originally lived on Metru Nui. During his time there, he was forced into a Matoran Sphere causing him to lose his memories. He was later rescued by the Toa Metru and was reawakened at Naho Bay on Mata Nui.
During his time on Mata Nui, he mostly lived in The Drifts, near the ice floes in a small cave on there. He knows the Principle of Willpower and teaches it to any who ask. He foresaw Hahli’s coming and taught her Willpower by having her balance on Icepoles.
Kantai later helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Kokkan:
Kokkan is a Ko-Matoran. Nothing is known of his life on Metru Nui before the Great Cataclysm. He was, however, placed into a Matoran Sphere along with the rest of the Matoran and later rescued by the Toa Metru.
On Mata Nui he was a Trader. He offered the following items for trade:

When the Rahkshi attacked Ko-Koro, Kokkan evacuated the village with the other Ko-Matoran. He then helped in the building of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Kopeke:
Kopeke is more aloof than most Ko-Matoran. Whereas most Ko-Matoran are antisocial, Kopeke is just shy. On Metru Nui, he worked a variety of Jobs, including being a Messenger and a Chute Station Attendant. He was forced into a Matoran Sphere along with the rest of the Matoran populous. He was later rescued by the Toa Metru and reawakened on Naho Bay.
On Mata Nui, he became a renowned Ice Carver, creating ice bridges and sculptures in honor of Kopaka.
When Takua first met Kopeke, Kopeke was frozen. When he used a Heat Stone to thaw Kopeke out, Kopeke ran away to his observation post. After Takua caught up to him, he asked Kopeke about the Ta-Matoran Guard, and Kopeke told him that the Matoran had been taken by Teridax.
When Takua came to Ko-Koro for a Matoran to defend Kini Nui, Nuju told him to take Kopeke. Kopeke agreed and his Ice carving skills came in handy as he carved a key to the Gate of Ice out of a nearby icicle. When the Ta-Matoran Guard, the Ussalry, the Gukko Force, and the Sanctum Guard came to join the fight, Kopeke was seen having a conversation with Matoro.
He is a champion of Huai Snowball Sling, and was also the goal-keeper of the Ko-Koro Kolhii team while on Mata Nui, however they did not make it to the Finals. He originally wore a Kanohi Komau, but it was damaged in Kolhii practice. So, in honor of Turaga Nuju, he took up a powerless Matatu.
Kopeke was evacuated from Ko-Koro when the Rahkshi attacked, and then helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he was appointed Chronicler when it was learned that the former Chronicler had become a Toa. Hahli:
The Toa Metru rescued the Matoran of Metru Nui and transported them to the island of Mata Nui. Hahli was never too active until the Pahrak attack on Ga-Koro. There, she and Macku helped dismantle the causeways so that the Pahrak couldn’t get over to the Ga-Koro village. She also developed a close friendship with a Ta-Matoran named Jaller, Captain of the Guard.
When Gali had her Nuva Symbol stolen, Hahli saw her summoning a tidal wave, only for her to suddenly lose her powers. Hahli immediately set off to find Nokama and told her what happened.
To her surprise, after the Bohrok-Kal had been defeated, Nokama chose Hahli as Kolhii champion instead of Kotu. She went around the island with Macku, training up and meeting several Matoran. She also found several charms, the six Crystals hidden on Mata Nui, and solved the riddles in the six temples.
Eventually, they got into the Kolhii Championship in Ta-Wahi where Po-Koro and Ta-Koro were playing. Ga-Koro’s team beat the other teams, although the Po-Matoran were close. But that was when the Mask of Light slipped out. She wanted to speak to Jaller, but he had to leave quickly as herald.
After Ta-Koro’s destruction, Hahli placed the crystals in slots near the Amaja circle on the Ta-Koro beach. She was teleported on Kini-Nui and to a beach, where Turaga Nokama told her that she was to be Chronicler.
When Jaller died and Takua transformed into Takanuva, she mourned greatly for him. She was the one who proposed putting his mask upon the Ussanui, as a symbol of leading one to victory and a new light. She even snuck into the Ussanui and went down with Takanuva into Mangaia. There, Takanuva sent her back to get the other Turaga and Toa Nuva and tell them to come. After the battle, with Takutanuva lifting the door, she ran by with Jaller’s mask. She was stopped by Takutanuva, however, who gave up part of his life force to bring Jaller back to life.
Hahli returned to Metru Nui by boat along with all the other Matoran of Mata Nui. She was chosen by Jaller to accompany him and some others to Voya Nui.

Amaya:
Amaya was a Teacher in Ga-Metru on Metru Nui; she was known to have taught the Ga-Matoran Vhisola. After arriving on Mata Nui, Amaya became a Flax-maker in Ga-Koro. She is friends with Hahli, who brought her Harakeke and Cowrie Shells with which to make Flax.
Five hundred years after coming to Mata Nui, Amaya was talked into joining a rowing club by Macku and Marka. During the excursion, a squid attacked the canoe. Amaya attempted to rescue Marka, but failed and she was dragged into the water. Amaya then jumped in and began jabbing the squid with her oar until the squid released Marka.
The Ga-Matoran followed the squid to Ga-Koro, where they witnessed it ravaging the village. Amaya then attempted to tie up the squid’s tentacles, but began to pass out from exhaustion. She was saved by Macku as the other Ga-Matoran drove the squid out.
When the Toa Mata came to Mata Nui, Amaya was trapped in the sunken hut along with Nokama, and the other Ga-Matoran. She was later freed by Takua, and witnessed the fight between Gali and the Tarakava.
She was also present during the Pahrak invasion on Ga-Koro.
She helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate her and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where she now resides.
Kai:
Kai was a sailor who spent most of her time walking around Ga-Koro shipyards getting orders from Marka. She made String and Rope from the Flax that Hahli brought her. Shasa used her Rope for her supplies, and Kailani used her String. Kai needed five Flax for one String, and five Strings for each Rope.
Kai once tried to start a rowing club, but the first attempt was stopped when a squid attacked the Boat. She was pulled down by the monster, but was saved when Amaya started jabbing the creature’s eyes.
She was trapped in a sunken hut along with all the other Ga-Matoran during an infected Rahi attack on the village.
She also took a last stand with Nokama, Onewa, and the Po-Matoran, during the Battle for Ga-Koro, shortly before the Bahrag were defeated by the Toa Mata.
Kai later helped construct Boats so she and the other Matoran could return to Metru Nui, where they all now reside.
Kailani:
Kailani is Ga-Koro’s Craftswoman who makes all sorts of tools, including Fishhooks, Sickles, Hatchets, and Kolhii Sticks. She relies on Hahli to bring her any supplies she needs. She is often found in Okoth’s hut.
Kailani was trapped in a sunken hut along with Nokama and all the other Ga-Matoran when a Tarakava attacked Ga-Koro. She was later freed by Takuva and witnessed a fight between Gali and the infected Rahi.
She also took a last stand with Nokama, Onewa, and the other Matoran present, during the Battle for Ga-Koro, shortly before the Bahrag were defeated by the Toa Mata.
Kailani helped in the construction of Boats for when the Matoran returned to Metru Nui, where they now live.

Kotu was among the Ga-Matoran imprisoned in the sunken hut, during one of the Rahi attacks on Ga-Koro. She was later freed by Takua, and witnessed the fight between Gali and the Tarakava that imprisoned them. She later started taking care of the beast recovering from the control that Teridax had over it.
She later took care of the Rahi in one of the huts.
During the Bohrok wars, Kotu alerted Nokama of the arrival of the evacuating Po-Matoran. She later helped in dismantling the paths leading to the aquatic village to keep the Pahrak swarms from “cleaning” Ga-Koro. However when the Bohrok cornered the two Turaga and the other Matoran, Kotu took a final stand with everyone else before the Toa Mata defeated the Bahrag.
When Nokama announced her choices for the Kolhii tournament, Kotu was surprised that Hahli was picked instead of her, but she helped her by constructing Bamboo poles, and teaching her about Kolhii.
The Ga-Matoran later helped in the construction of Boats to carry the Matoran to Metru Nui, where Kotu now lives.
Macku:
After the Great Cataclysm had fallen and the Matoran were taken to Mata Nui by the Turaga, Macku worked in Ga-Koro. When she met Hewkii, the two became close friends and Macku constantly tried to sneak out of her village to see him, much to the dismay of Turaga Nokama.
Five hundred years after the Great Cataclysm, Macku and Marka convinced Amaya to join a rowing club started by Kai. When a squid attacked their canoe, Amaya drove it off, but it then headed towards Ga-Koro. Amaya tied up the Rahi’s tentacles to try and stop it, and Macku saved her when she passed out. She later retrieved Marka’s Hau, which was lost when the squid attacked the boat.
She first met Takua when he was searching for the Toa Stones. She was a champion at Ngalawa Boat Racing, but she ultimately lost to Takua. When her village fell victim to a Tarakava tainted by Teridax’s Infected Kanohi, she escaped and managed to find Takua to help. While he went to Ga-Koro to see the damage, she went off to search for Gali, which she succeeded in, but upon arrival to Ga-Koro was punished by Nokama for wandering away from the village, despite that it saved them, and was forbidden to leave again. Macku became bored at her confinement, and was later stricken with worry when she learned of the Po-Koro Epidemic, wondering if Hewkii was affected. She was later relieved when she learned that he had recovered.
Takua later met up with Macku again, this time to ask her to join the Chronicler’s Company. Macku helped the company by driving a boat under Naho Falls, and then later defended the Kini-Nui from infected Rahi.
During the invasion of the Bohrok swarms, Macku patrolled the waters of Naho Bay in her canoe. When Pahrak attacked the village, she almost died trying to destroy the path leading into Ga-Koro, but she was saved by Hewkii. She also saved the Boxor pilots when the Machines were thrown into the water. However, the Bohrok were able to make there way to the village regardless, and the Matoran and Turaga were cornered, Macku made a final stand along with everyone else, before the Bahrag were defeated and the Bohrok were deactivated.
In return for saving her life, she taught Hewkii to swim, whether he wanted to or not. After the Bohrok and Bohrok-Kal were defeated, she was awarded a name change on Naming Day. Her name was lengthened from Maku to Macku. Her time with Hewkii had made her a good Kolhii player, and she was appointed goalie of the Ga-Koro team. Together with Hahli, she led Ga-Koro to victory in the tournament. She was evacuated from Ta-Koro along with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack.
She helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate her, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where she now resides.

Marka once talked Amaya into joining a rowing club. When a squid attacked the Boat, however, she was pulled down into the water, and was saved when Amaya attacked the Rahi, but had already fallen unconscious by then. She temporarily lost her Hau and was carried back to Ga-Koro by Amaya. Her Hau was later recovered by Macku.
Marka takes her work very seriously, but is willing to offer a healthy-sized dose of Widgets for supplies such as Rope, Sailcloth, and Rigging. Shasa brings some of these supplies to the shipyard quite often. She also studies Purity, one of the six Principles of Mata Nui, and provided the Purity Charm to Hahli: Here! Since you’re so interested in Purity, take this stone. It bears the symbol of Purity. I found it once, a long time ago, while cutting wood near the falls. Maybe it can help you somehow.

Later, when Takua explored the Great Mine in Onu-Wahi, he encountered an Onu-Matoran who had stumbled upon a sundial. He asked Takua to deliver a letter to Nixie, asking why there would be a sundial underground. In return, Nixie gave Takua a Gnomon, which proved to be the key to unlocking one of the entrances to Mangaia.
During the Pahrak invasion of Ga-Koro, Nixie made a last stand against the Bohrok along with everyone else present. She continued to study the movements of the stars afterwards, offering riddles to Hahli.
Nixie later helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate her, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where she now resides.
Okoth:
Okoth is a Ga-Matoran Trader who bartered and sold goods at her shop in Ga-Koro. He discovered the body of a Le-Matoran murdered by Tuyet while he was rushing to the Chute Station once. While Teridax was disguised as Turaga Dume, Nidhiki and Krekka threatened him to change the direction of a Chute where three of the Toa Metru were in, he had no choice but to revert it. Later, he was put in a Matoran Sphere and was eventually awakened by the new Turaga of Mata Nui.
During the time of the Rahi attacks from Teridax, Kongu became an expert bird wrangler and was appointed captain of the Gukko Force. He led Takua as a second on a Gukko bird into the Nui-Rama Hive to save several Le-Matoran and one Onu-Matoran, Taipu, who had been taken by the Nui-Rama under command of Toa Lewa, who had been taken by Makuta. Kongu flew into the hive while Takua was frantically shooting Disks at the Nui-Rama onslaught. But once in, they were trapped with the others. Only by Onua coming in and saving Lewa were they saved. Tamaru:
Tamaru lived on the island of Mata Nui for a year before Teridax’s infected Rahi attacked the villages. After many years of attacks, the Nui-Rama mounted a major one. Coming from their nest, the Nui-Rama and Nui-Kopen all flew to Le-Koro, where they attacked all the Matoran. The Matoran bravely fought back, but were defeated. Many of the Le-Matoran were taken, including their Turaga, Matau. With only a handful of Matoran left in the village, they were extremely cautious.
Soon after the attack, Onu-Matoran succeeded in making a tunnel from Onu-Koro to Le-Wahi. Taipu, one of the miners, and Takua, the Chronicler, explored the area. Soon, Taipu was captured by a Nui Rama, and Takua stumbled upon an elevator, which took him up to the village. The Le-Matoran took shelter, believing the Matoran to be a Nui-Rama. Takua found a flute that had been dropped, and started to play. The Matoran heard this, and came out, as no Nui-Rama could make a sound like that. Tamaru and Kongu, Tamaru’s friend, filled in Takua as to what had been going on.
While the Matoran talked, Tamaru noticed Nui-Rama filing out from their hive, far off on the horizon. The Le-Matoran then mobilized a force, and, on Gukko birds, they flew out to strike the Nui-Rama and recover their friends, while they prepared, Tamuru is seen trying to mount a Kewa, and getting repeatedly knocked off. Armed with disks, the Matoran fought, while Kongu and Takua, Kongu’s second, made it into the hive. While Tamaru stayed at the village, he was soon joined by the freed Matoran and Turaga, along with Toa Onua and Lewa. The Le-Matoran threw a party, during which they watched Lewa descend into the Toa Suva, and rise with his Golden Kanohi. While the other Le-Matoran rejoice however, Tamuru is seen sitting away from the party.
Later on, when Matau received word of a Rahi attack by Teridax via Takua, by a note written by Nuju, Matau prepared the villagers to fight back. Tamaru, however, was sent to the ground, to guard the village against Rahi attacks; this was Matau’s kind way of getting Tamaru out of the way, as he wouldn’t be useful due to his fear of heights. Later, when Takua came around all the villages to search for Matoran to join his compoany, Tamaru immedietely joined in, believing that no land Rahi would attack Le-Koro.
After the Company was assembled, they journeyed to the Kini-Nui. Along the way, Tamaru revealed to Takua that, unlike most Le-Matoran, he did not have a fear of the water. Later on, when the group encountered a ravine, Tamaru helped the group cross it. When the group made it to the Kini-Nui, they defended the temple against several Rahi. When hundreds of Rahi began to attack, Tamaru held tight and did not flee. When the company received help from all the villages, they were able to defeat the Rahi, and Tamaru took some time to speak with Kongu.
Later on, when the Bohrok swarms struck, Tamaru and Kongu were the only Le-Matoran not infected by the Krana. After Nuparu invented the Boxor, he and Takua journeyed to Le-Wahi, where they spoke to Tamaru and Kongu. Together, the Matoran formed a plan. The next day, the two Matoran lured Nuhvok away from the jungle, and taunted them towards a clearing. When the Nuhvok arrived there, Matoran in Boxors struck the Nuhvok, defeating them.
Tamaru also played witness to the attacks of the Bohrok-Kal and the Rahkshi. After Metru Nui was rediscovered, Tamaru helped to build boats which the Matoran would travel in to reach Metru Nui. After arriving on the island, Tamaru helped repair Le-Metru and the rest of the island. He is currently working on the island, after the Staff of Artakha repaired all the destruction on Metru Nui.

Tuuli was among the Le-Matoran to be captured by the Bohrok and have their masks replaced by Krana. The Krana were eventually removed following an ambush by Kongu, Tamaru, and the Boxors.
Tuuli later helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Vira:
Vira was a Chute Station Attendant on Metru Nui and on Mata Nui, a member of the Gukko Force.
During a Rahi attack on Le-Koro, Vira, Tamaru, and the other Gukko Force Members were the only one to evade capture from the Nui-Rama. They hid once they heard Takua come up to the village, but once they heard him play a flute they came out of there hiding places and greeted him. Later duing another attack, Vira saddled up and rode into battle. Matau, and the other Le-Matoran were freed with the help of Onua.
He was among the Le-Matoran to be captured by the Bohrok, and had his Kanohi switched with a Krana. The Krana was later taken off and his mask restored.
He also helped in the construction of Boats to assist in his and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Hewkii:
On Metru Nui, Hewkii served as proprietor of the most famous disk store in Metru Nui. Its disks were of such fine Akilini quality that Turaga Dume had to ban other Metru players from using Po-Metru Disks. It is naturally presumed that he played Akilini. Just prior to the Great Cataclysm, he was placed into a Matoran Sphere, and was later rescued by the Toa Metru, and taken to Mata Nui.
In the 1,000 years before the coming of the Toa Mata, Hewkii aided the defense of Po-Koro and established his position as Kolhii champion. During this time, he learned much about stone, which later aided him as a Toa Inika. During his time on the island, he stood as Onewa’s right hand Matoran. At that time he was the greatest goal-scorer of all time at Kolhii and one of the few Po-Matoran able to crush boulders with both his feet and his head. It is said that he learned this skill after Macku soaked his mask during a practical joke.
During the Great War Hewkii was one of the first to fall victim to the infection spread by the Comet balls, which were being sold by Ahkmou. This caused him to fall very ill, and if Pohatu had not saved him by removing the infected Comet balls, he would have either died or become a servant of Teridax. Hewkii recovered in time to organize the defense of Po-Koro from the Tahnok swarm. While under Toa Pohatu’s control, he kicked a Kolhii ball down, which struck a makeshift lever, catapulting Pohatu and Hafu into the air and over the walls. Despite this victory, he fled with the other Po-Matoran to Ga-Koro on a fleet of hidden boats. They didn’t have much time to rest after arrival, because the Pahrak swarm attacked. Hewkii saved Macku by catching a piece of debris headed towards her in a fishing staff. This catch inspired a new form of Kolhii, in which staffs would be used instead of kicking the ball.
After the Bohrok-Kal attacks, Hewkii was chosen by Onewa, along with Hafu, to participate in Kolhii Tournament. The Po-Koro team got all the way to the Ta-Koro Kolhii Championship, in which they won second place to the Ga-Koro team. He was evacuated along with the other Matoran when the Rahkshi attacked the village.
He helped in the construction of boats to Metru Nui.
Akhmou:
Teridax sent Ahkmou to Mata Nui to secretly work for him as a Trader in Po-Koro. Ahkmou came into the Po-Koro community as a latecomer, but none of the other Matoran would ever question his sudden appearance as it was at the period of time where all of their memories would still turn out to be fuzzy. Ahkmou’s body had shrunk along with all of the other Matoran as a result of being in his sphere for too long. When Turaga Onewa realized what Ahkmou knew, he sternly told Ahkmou not to reveal any of Metru Nui’s secrets to any of the Matoran.
Once in Po-Koro, Ahkmou attempted to make a living by selling “lucky Ghekula” to superstitious Matoran. Turaga Onewa put a stop to this. Ahkmou later sold Kolhii balls infected with Teridax’s influence, called Comets, to the Po-Matoran of Po-Koro. The Comets became a fad among the Po-Matoran, and once the Po-Koro population fell ill, Ahkmou fled. Thanks to Takua, the source of the infected Koli balls was discovered in a Nui-Jaga nest inside a quarry. Toa Mata Pohatu destroyed the infected Koli balls, leaving a sign at his stand saying “Gone Fishing”. After some time, Ahkmou later returned to Po-Koro. At this point, Turaga Onewa knew that Ahkmou was allied with Teridax.
After the Toa Nuva defeated the Bohrok-Kal, Ahkmou’s body changed to a larger, more agile shape along with all the other Matoran using the Turaga’s knowledge of reconstruction. Ahkmou continued to work as a shopkeeper in Po-Koro, and did not try any more heists.
Believing that Teridax had died after Takanuva defeated him and rediscovered Metru Nui for the Turaga, Ahkmou at first helped the Po-Matoran widen the tunnels leading to the Silver Sea. When everything was ready, Ahkmou sailed to Metru Nui with all of the other Matoran. Ahkmou is now living on Metru Nui with the other Po-Matoran.

Golyo later helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his and the other Matoran’s return to Metru Nui, where he now lives.
Hafu:
On Mata Nui he was renowned as a master carver in his village of Po-Koro. Because of this, he was known to arrogantly flaunt his carving talents. Hafu also gave carving lessons to anyone who wanted his services.
Onewa assigned Hafu to be a member of the Chronicler’s Company because he felt his talents would be ill-suited for the expected attacks on Po-Koro. Hafu helped by clearing an avalanche that had blocked the path, and created a giant statue of himself in its place. He also participated in the Battle for Kini-Nui, defending it from Rahi.
During the Siege of Po-Koro Hafu, was dismayed that he would have to knock down his own statues in order to protect the village, and despite his objections, the decision was made that he would do it. While Hewkii was preparing an escort for him, the Tahnok pulled a sneak attack. Hafu selflessly knocked down the statues to protect Po-Koro, leaving him outside at the mercy of the Bohrok. Fortunately, he was saved by Pohatu just before he was hit by a Krana. Pohatu succesfully brought him back safely inside the village. Despite his personal sacrifice, more swarms came and Hafu was forced to evacuate to Ga-Koro. After the Pahrak swarms attacking the aquatic village cornered the Matoran in Ga-Koro, Hafu made a final stand along with all the other Matoran present, before the Bahrag were defeated by the Toa Mata. He later departed back to Po-Koro.
Hafu was able to make it to the Kolhii championship, along with Hewkii, and took second place. He was evacuated along with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack. He then helped in the construction of Boats to facilitate his, and the other Matoran’s, return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Kamen:
Kamen makes sure all of the carvings in Po-Koro do not disintegrate or begin to wear away. After ages of display, erosion has its effect from the harsh winds of the desert, so Kamen makes sure the stones don’t crack or erode. He elaborated once to Hahli: I am constantly taking care of the sculptures, so that they do not Disintegrate! Time and weather take their toll on our great works, wearing them down into dust. The enemy of Creation is Disintegration!
Kamen was among the Matoran that were evacuated to Ga-Koro after Tahnok Swarms threatened to overwhelm Po-Koro. After the Pahrak Swarms cornered the Matoran in Ga-Koro, Kamen made a final stand along with all the other Matoran present, before the Bahrag were defeated by the Toa Mata. Podu:
Podu was a Po-Matoran who played Kolhii on the island of Mata Nui.
During Takua’s quest for the Toa Stones Podu became trapped under several, large boulders which fell due to a wild kick while practicing his Kolhii game in Po-Wahi. When Takua spoke with Podu’s Kanohi Akaku-wearing training partner while passing through Po-Wahi on his way to Po-Koro, he was informed of the trapped Po-Matoran’s situation, and was asked to assist. Takua tossed three rocks out of the way then rolled a larger one from atop Podu, freeing him. The sore but grateful Podu gifted an Amana Volo Sphere to Takua as thanks for rescuing him.
Podu was among the Matoran that were evacuated to Ga-Koro after Tahnok Swarms threatened to overwhelm Po-Koro. Nuparu:
Nuparu was employed as a Rahi Receiving Official at one of the Onu-Metru Airship, Chute, and boat docks, but he always spent his spare time dreaming and designing new inventions, and would sometimes sneak off into the Archives sublevels to collect parts to make his machines. One of his more notable inventions on Metru Nui were the Vahki. He was also responsible for the designing of the Kralhi, which were less sucessful and were later dubbed “Nuparu’s Folly”. Nuparu’s curiosity sometimes got the better of him. But sometimes it would help him lead to new heights. While Nuparu was searching for random Rahkshi pieces in the Archives sub-level, Nuparu stumbled upon a leak in one of the sea walls which could have burst, causing liquid Protodermis to flood in. He rushed to Toa Whenua and the Toa Metru came to help. There they encountered Krahka, the shape-shifting Rahi. After the Toa left to stop this threat, Nuparu vowed to someday create something that would help the Matoran defend themselves, without help from Toa. He later accomplished this on Mata Nui, when he created the Boxor.
Like all the Metru Nui Matoran, Nuparu had his power and size decreased by a Matoran pod. However, this did not affect Nuparu’s ability as an inventor.
As the Tunnel Engineer 2nd Class, Marn Tunnel 12, Section 4 of Onu-Koro, Nuparu had a big duty, and worked hard throughout the long years underground. The Matoran trusted Nuparu to build inventions and machines for the village. During the Bohrok invasion, when the Gahlok attacked Onu-Koro, Taipu and Onepu were making sure everyone got out alive. Nuparu, however, didn’t get to the exit quick enough. The three of them ended up trapped in a cave. After finding a Lightstone, they were all surprised by an inactive Gahlok whose Krana had been taken away. At first Onepu thought he was slacking off from trying to find a way out, but actually Nuparu had taken out his tools and started to take apart the humbled Bohrok. With nothing better to do, the other two Onu-Matoran helped him rebuild the Bohrok into the new Boxor vehicle. He tested his new invention by knocking out the rock wall and some Gahlok inside the mine. Soon these Boxors were being drastically produced to help the Matoran fight the Bohrok.
Nuparu was granted permission to bring several of his Boxors with him on the return to Metru Nui, so he can continue to build them using the Bohrok there, and so his fellow Matoran can continue to use them in their defenses. Regretting he never got to see and examine a full Exo-Toa, he also secretly salvaged pieces of those robots, and smuggled them onto the boats without anyone knowing.
Aiyetoro:
Aiyetoro was an Onu-Matoran Miner who dug for Ore.
While Hahli was visiting Onu-Koro, Aiyetoro was experiencing difficulty finishing his shift because he did not have a Lightstone to help him. When Hahli retrieved one for him from Great Mine Cave E, he rewarded her with twenty-five Widgets and explained the importance of the Virtues Onu-Koro honors: We toil away all day in the mines. It’s both our Duty and our Destiny! Onua gazes upon the Earth and sees riches. It is our Duty to dig, and our Destiny to find them! The combination of Duty and Destiny brings the Principle!
Aiyetor was evacuated from Onu-Koro during the Rahkshi attack along with the other Matoran. Following the Rahkshi’s defeat and Metru Nui’s rediscovery, he aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Akamu:
Akamu was a Crafter on Mata Nui who invented the Sluice, a tool used to collect Protodermis.
When the Rahkshi attacked Onu-Koro, Akamu was evacuated from the village with the other Matoran. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Azibo:
Azibo was one of Chief Mamru’s prospectors in Onu-Koro. Mamru held him in very high esteem, saying that he was his best Prospector and was very talented. Azibo was well-versed in the Principle of Prosperity and explained its nature to Hahli after she retrieved his Sluice that had fallen in a crevice.
Azibo was evacuated from Onu-Koro during the Rahkshi attack along with the other Matoran. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Damek:
On Metru Nui originally, Damek was a Guard posted at one of the entrances of the Archives. On Mata Nui, Damek was also a Guard.
He and the other Onu-Matoran were evacuated from Onu-Koro during the Rahkshi attack. Damek then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Dosne:
Dosne was the Mining Captain of Onu-Koro. Dosne was familiar with the Onu-Koro Kolhii Skill, Stamina, stating: It is hard work to follow the Principle of Onu-Koro. When we do, we are given the gift of Stamina! Stamina gives you the power to dig forever.
During the Rahkshi attack on Onu-Koro, Dosne was evacuated from the village with the other Matoran. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Kaj:
Kaj was a Guard of the gate to Onu-Koro on Mata Nui.
When the Rahkshi attacked Onu-Koro, he was evacuated from the village along with the other Matoran. Following their defeat, Kaj aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Mamru:
Mamru was the Chief Prospector of Onu-Koro. It was his job to find the Ore deposits in the Great Mine. He had great faith in fellow prospector Azibo, whose knowledge of the Principle of Onu-Koro was considered invaluable to their job.
Mamru was evacuated from Onu-Koro with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack on the village. He then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Midak:
While on Mata Nui, Midak lived in a hut just outside of the Motara Desert and the Onu-Po-Highway. Midak took care of Ussal Crabs, and he spent a lot of time watching the Ussal Races. He lent Ussal crabs to travelers to quickly get to Onu-Koro so they would not get lost in the dark tunnels.
After Pewku had gotten too old for racing, Onepu gave her to Midak. Midak later gave Pewku to Takua so she could escort him to Onu-Koro. Later, upon hearing the news on how Takua had helped Onu-Koro with many of its problems, Midak personally thanked Takua.
When the Matoran returned to Metru Nui, Midak then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
He befriended Toa Pohatu, who named the Midak Skyblasters in honor of him.
Onepu:
On Mata Nui, Onepu became Turaga Whenua’s right hand. An ussal racing champion, Onepu was a member and the captain of the Ussalry, and occasionally mined. Onepu was Taipu’s best friend, and sometimes took advantage of him, such as when he talked Taipu into doing his mining work for him. After Whenua was alerted to the possiblity of a Rahi attack as the Toa Mata descended into Mangaia, Onepu and the Ussalry went to work defending the village. When the infected Rahi began to retreat, Onepu and the Ussalry traveled to the Kini-Nui, where he came to the Chronicler’s Company’s aid. After helping them defeat Rahi, Onepu told Takua to travel to Onu-Koro, due to a discovery that Takua would be interested in.
Later, during the Bohrok attacked Mata Nui, and Onepu was in the village when the Gahlok struck and flooded the cavern. When this attack happened, he helped direct everyone to safety. As Nuparu came running towards him, a flood of water hit them, propelling them into a tunnel. When they reawoke, Nuparu used his Lightstone to illuminate the area. The group found themselves near a Gahlok, but, as Onepu pointed out, one devoid of its Krana. Struck by an idea, Nuparu began to work on an invention using the Bohrok’s parts, while Onepu and Taipu helped him. Eventually, they used his invention, the Boxor, to battle and win against a squad of Gahlok.
Onepu later helped Nuparu defeat some Nuhvok in Le-Koro. After the swarms defeat, Onepu was defeated by a creature who seeked Onua’s Nuva Symbol.
He was evacuated from Onu-Koro during the Rahkshi attack and aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides. Once there, Onepu helped rebuild the city, and went back to work once the Staff of Artakha repaired the city.
Taipu:
Taipu worked as a miner and digger for most of his time on Mata Nui. One of the projects he worked on was the tunneling of the Le-Koro Highway, where he worked even after the other miners had stopped digging due to the poor light, bad air, and constant Rahi attacks. Soon after Takua managed to drain the lava blocking the way to the Cavern of Light, Taipu was the first to break through to Le-Wahi. He begged Takua to let him go along and see Le-Koro, and was overjoyed when the Chronicler let him come. Soon after sighting Le-Koro, Taipu was captured by an infected Nui-Rama, and taken to its hive, where he was forced to dig for unclear reasons. Soon afterwards, he witnessed the battle between Onua and the infected Lewa, and rode with Onua when they escaped from the hive. He then stayed for a while at Le-Koro and celebrated with the Le-Matoran before returning to Onu-Koro.
Soon after, Taipu was recruited from mining detail in the Great Mine by Takua on the advice of Whenua, who said that he had talked long and often of the adventure in Le-Wahi. He eagerly joined the Chronicler’s Company and helped to clear obstacles on the path to the Kini-Nui, and defended the temple from the vicious Rahi so the Toa would be able to escape freely. The Company almost failed, and might have if the Ta-Matoran Guard, Le-Matoran Gukko Force, and the Onu-Matoran Ussalry hadn’t shown up to help.
During the evacuation of a Gahlok raid on Onu-Koro, he, Onepu and Nuparu were trapped in a cave after a flood of gushing water beat its way through Onu-Koro. Trapped, all they had for light was a Lightstone. Nuparu introduced himself to Onepu and Taipu and then they journeyed through the cavern. All of them jumped at the sight of a Gahlok, but it was deactivated without a Krana. Using knowledge Onepu had attained from Whenua about the nature of the Bohrok, Nuparu engineered from the Bohrok pieces a machine called the Boxor. With it, they broke out of the cavern and saved Onu-Koro.
Later, Whenua would choose Taipu to be goal-keeper of the Onu-Koro Kolhii team, although he and Onepu were eliminated early in the Grand Tournament.
He was evacuated from Onu-Koro with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack.
Taipu then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Tehutti:
On Mata Nui, Tehutti was re-named Tehuti and given a replacement Kanohi Kakama for unknown reasons. His name has since been changed back. He worked in the Great Mine in Onu-Wahi as a Miner.
He was evacuated from Onu-Koro with the other Matoran during the Rahkshi attack.
Tehutti then aided in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui, where he now resides.
Zemya:
Zemya was a Trader who operated a shop in Onu-Koro. Nothing is known of his life on Metru Nui.
He offered the following supplies to Hahli:
