Other Masks Used by Other People

There are many other masks that can’t be classified such as:

Kanohi Avohkii:

The Kanohi Avohkii is the only Mask of Light. Its ownership has been contested many times throughout its history, being desired by, among others, the Brotherhood of Makuta and the Toa.

The Kanohi Avohkii was first forged on Artakha. 2,500 years ago, Makuta Kojol stole the mask from the island for the Brotherhood of Makuta. The Toa Hagah later stole it from the Brotherhood headquarters on Destral, carrying it with them during their quest for Keetongu. Eventually settling on Metru Nui, the Rahaga hid the mask in the Archives.

When the Toa Metru were mutated into Toa Hordika, the Rahaga sent them on a quest for the Makoki Stones, chronicled in the Toa Hordika and the Mask of Light web series. At the end of the series, Onewa used his power to encase the mask in stone. This allowed the Toa Metru to successfully smuggle it out of the city unnoticed. They then took the mask with them to Mata Nui.

Over one thousand years later, the Mask of Light was released from its bonds of stone by falling into a lava stream in Ta-Wahi. The Turaga took this as a sign that the Seventh Toa, a Toa of Light, would soon come to destroy Makuta Teridax. Two Matoran–Takua and Jaller–were chosen to find the Toa of Light, racing against the dreaded Rahkshi. They eventually reached the great Kini-Nui at the center of the island. After Jaller was killed by Turahk in the battle that ensued, Takua put the mask on his face and was transformed into the Seventh Toa, Takanuva.

During Takanuva’s battle with Teridax, the Kanohi Avohkii was merged with the Kanohi Kraahkan when the two fighters fell into Energized Protodermis. The being formed from the mask-wearers, Takutanuva, opened the door to Metru Nui. After the door fell on Takutanuva, the Mask of Light was used to revive Takanuva. Currently, it is still worn by Takanuva; its appearance has been altered by the Shadow Leech that attacked him, and is now gray.

Kanohi Kraahkan:

The Kanohi Kraahkan is the only Great Mask of Shadows.

A mask of incredible powers, it was crafted out of Protosteel in Artakha. It was then worn by Makuta Teridax for the next 100,000 years. During the Conflict of Takanuva and Teridax, when Teridax and Takanuva merged to form Takutanuva, their masks also merged into the Mask of Light and Darkness. However, Takutanuva and his mask soon split apart. When the Piraka went to the Great Barrier to raid Teridax’s lair, Reidak tried to steal the mask. However, it blasted him with Shadow bolts when he picked it up, so he threw it into the Silver Sea. The mask was later retrieved by Icarax, who currently wears it.

Kanohi of Light and Darkness:

The Great Mask of Light and Darkness was a Kanohi formed from the Kanohi Avohkii and Kanohi Kraahkan. It was created when the two masks became immersed in Energized Protodermis, along with Toa Takanuva and Makuta Teridax during the Conflict of Takanuva and Teridax. When Takutanuva was split back into Takanuva and Teridax by the falling door that he had lifted, the Mask of Light and Darkness was also split back into the Masks of Light and Shadows.

As the Mask of Light and Darkness was the fused Masks of Light and Shadows, it had all the powers of both masks. While this mask was one of the few that had Elemental Powers, it did not boost any of Takutanuva’s pre-existing Elemental abilities.

Kanohi Aki:

The Kanohi Aki was the Mask of Valor. It gave its user the powers of Shielding, Speed, and Strength. The powers could be activated seperately. The mask resembled a golden Great Kanohi Hau.

Kanohi Rua:

Rua.png

The Kanohi Rua was the Great Mask of Wisdom. It gave its user the powers of Levitation, Water Breathing, and X-Ray Vision. The powers could be activated seperately. The mask resembled a silver Great Kanohi Miru.

Kanohi Rode:

Rode.png

The Kanohi Rode is the Mask of Truth. It allows its user to see through any deception and pierce any disguise. Thus, it is not possible to deceive a Rode-user. The mask allows its user to see through the effects of Kanohi Iden, Kanohi Volitak, Kanohi Huna, and Kanohi Mahiki. A Mask of Truth is always on at a low level.

Kanohi Olmak:

Olmak.png

The Kanohi Olmak is the Mask of Dimensional Gates. A powerful but rare mask, it allows its user to transport a target to another dimension or another location within this one via transdimensional gateways. The user can also form portals that stay open without the wearer’s concentration. This mask is very dangerous to use, as it can transport a being to deadly dimensions.

Kanohi Olisi:

The Kanohi Olisi is the only Great Mask of Alternate Futures, created by the Great Beings. It allows its user to project a mental illusion of an alternate timeline or a possible future into one or more being’s minds simultaneously. The user will also view the ilusion. While a Kanohi Olisi user can ‘plant’ a vision in another’s head and leave it active, it is easier for the target to break out of. The Kanohi Olisi can activate its power through an energy burst.

Karzahni’s mask originally looked like it was composed of four masks patched together. After being altered by the Pit Mutagen, the mask fused to Karzahni’s head. Despite this, he can still use its power.

Kanohi of Creation:

Noimage.jpg

The Great Mask of Creation is a Kanohi that allows its user to imagine a completed product from raw materials and displays how to construct it. It does not actually create objects, however. It is a one-of-a-kind Kanohi forged by the Great Beings, and won by Artakha after he competed against Karzahni for it. It has since helped him design many of his creations.

Kanohi of Elemental Energy:

BH Kanohi of Elemental Energy.pngThe Game.

The Kanohi of Elemental Energy is a mask that regenerates the Elemental Energy of its user instantly. Little is known about this mask, including its name and if any have been found and/or used before.

Kanohi of Intangibility:

noimage.jpg

The Mask of Intangibility is a Kanohi that allows its user’s body to become intangible so they can pass through objects and/or avoid attacks.

Kanohi of Possibilities:

Noimage.jpg

The Mask of Possibilities is a Kanohi that allows its user to alter probability to make an unlikely event more likely to happen, or to make a likely event less likely to happen.

When asked about the difference between this mask and the Kanohi Calix, Greg Farshtey gave this answer:

“The Calix allows you to perform as if you were at absolute peak condition. This mask is more like the original version of the Scarlet Witch’s hex power–if you are fighting a Kikanalo and it is extremely unlikely that a boulder above his head would pick that moment to topple down, the mask alters probability so that it suddenly becomes certain to happen.”

Kanohi Vahi:

The rusted orange Kanohi Vahi. The flash form of the Kanohi Vahi.

The Kanohi Vahi is the Legendary Mask of Time and is one of the two most powerful masks in existence.

Legends predicted the possibility of a Mask of Time and its powers, even though no one was even sure if it could be made. The Brotherhood of Makuta, anticipating the Mask of Time’s crafting, created Voporak. That way, should the Kanohi Vahi ever come into existance, the Brotherhood would have a way of tracking it down.

Makuta Teridax (in the guise of Turaga Dume) requested a Mask of Time from Vakama, a Matoran Mask Maker at that time. It was not until he became a Toa Metru, however, that Vakama was able to create the Kanohi Vahi. He managed this by forging the Great Disks into the Disk of Time, and then carving that into a mask. After he finished it, Vakama used the Mask of Time against Teridax. However, he was unable to keep control of it, and ended up slowing time around himself along with Teridax, rather than just his foe. He would have been killed had not Turaga Lhikan stepped forward to block Teridax’s attack. The resulting blow killed Lhikan. This broke Vakama’s concentration, blasting the mask away from him and throwing it off the Great Barrier and Vakama later hit the Kanohi Vahi with a Kanoka, causing it to fall into the Silver Sea.

Following the events of the Great Rescue, Vakama went to retrieve the mask. Although originally gold, it had rusted orange from extended exposure to the sea. When he found it, the Kanohi Vahi had a small crack in it and was leaking Time energy, affecting all life near it. Vakama managed to seal the crack using a pinpoint beam of fire. As he returned to the surface, he was ambushed by Voporak, who then stole the mask. After it was stolen from him, Vakama teamed up with Teridax to retrieve it. Voporak presented it to The Shadowed One, who planned to use it to conquer the Matoran Universe. Teridax tried to barter Vakama for it, but the Toa stole it back. He threatened to smash it, which would destroy the fabric of time. Teridax was not willing to sacrifice all of time, so he permitted Vakama to leave and keep the mask.

After the Toa Mata had transformed into the Toa Nuva, Vakama, now a Turaga, gave the Kanohi Vahi to Tahu Nuva, who used it to delay the Bohrok-Kal’s attempt to free the Bahrag. It almost overwhelmed Tahu and he later gave it back to Vakama, who now has it in his possession.

The mask is currently coveted by the Brotherhood of Makuta, the Dark Hunters, and the Order of Mata Nui. The Dark Hunters sent Voporak and Ancient on a mission to search for the mask, but upon learning that it is in the possesion of Turaga Vakama, who is willing to destroy it to prevent it falling into the wrong hands, they decided a raid of Metru Nui at the time would be pointless. The Order, however, is content with the Kanohi Vahi being kept by Vakama, as they know he will keep it safe.

Kanohi Ignika:

The Kanohi Ignika is the mysterious and powerful Legendary Mask of Life. Its purpose is to drain life from every organism in the Matoran Universe as a failsafe in case it did not conform to the Great Beings’ plan for it. It is also to be used on the Great Spirit Mata Nui, should anything damage his life-force. It was sought by the Piraka, Toa Nuva, Toa Inika and Brutaka on Voya Nui, and later the Barraki, Toa Mahri and Hydraxon in the Pit.

The Kanohi Ignika was crafted into existance by the Great Beings over 100,000 years ago. Molded in the Great Beings’ universe, it was heated in forges fiery beyond imagining and cooled in great caverns of ice. It was forged so that if Mata Nui’s life-force was damaged, he could be healed. The Kanohi Ignika was first placed in a golden armored shell to protect it until a Great Being became curious about the mask. He opened the shell and grabbed the mask. The Kanohi Ignika sensed that the Great Being was not destined to use it, but it shared its power with him anyway, believing it to be a wonderful gift. As a result, everything around the Great Being came to life. Each object then cried out to him, pleading for their needs to be filled. Eventually, he went insane and the other Great Beings had to lock him up to prevent him from bringing other objects to life.

Shortly later, the Kanohi Ignika was moved to the center of the Southern Continent near the village of Voya Nui. The two Great Beings who brought it there used their weapons to dig a hole in the ground, creating chambers and steps along the way. Eventually, they stopped far below the surface and formed the Chamber of Life. They then built a pedestal. One of them removed the Kanohi Ignika from its shell using special tools. He placed it on the pedestal, and the pair left. They later put many traps in place and installed Umbra as protection. The mask also created guards of its own, such as the Protodax.

Many tried to take the mask over the years, but none ever reached the chamber. This all changed 79,100 years ago, when Mata Nui was weakened because of the Great Disruption, and Toa Jovan and his team managed to reach the Chamber of Life. The mask sensed that they were destined to use it, and allowed the team to take it to Karda Nui, where one member used it to heal Mata Nui. The member was consumed by the mask’s power in the process, and afraid of its power, the rest of the team returned the Kanohi Ignika to its chamber. The surviving members of the team went on to become Turaga.

The mask remained in the chamber for many millennia. 1,001 years ago, the Great Cataclysm shook the Matoran Universe and shot Voya Nui to the surface, now as an island. The Kanohi Ignika began to sense that something was fundamentally wrong with the universe’s fabric of life. It also sensed that beings on the surface wanted it. One group, the Piraka, wanted it for treacherous reasons, and the other group wanted to save the dying Great Spirit.

Wanting another guardian, the mask used its powers to draw Vezon, a half-Skakdi that coveted it, to the Chamber of Life. Upon reaching and touching the Mask of Life, Vezon’s feet were fused to an enlarged Fenrakk. The Kanohi Ignika also fused itself to the back of his head and granted its new guardian special powers.

Over time, however, the mask grew to dislike Vezon, and found a new potential guardian: a Matoran named Matoro. It also turned silver, beginning its countdown to drain life from the universe, as it realized it was in danger from the Piraka and Vezon. At that time, Matoro was in a tunnel leading to Karzahni that absorbed all light and sound. The mask used its powers to become as a living being in the tunnel with him. Matoro, believing it was one of his friends, grabbed the being’s hand and led him out of the tunnel, only to realize that his friends had already passed through. Matoro had passed the mask’s test, and the mask wished to replace Vezon with Matoro as a guardian.

A few days later, the Piraka arrived to take the mask for themselves. Vezon was successful in defeating them, but the Toa Inika arrived immediately afterwards. They were slightly more successful in holding him off. At one point in the fight, Jaller used his powers to melt the floor beneath Vezon. Vezon, knowing it would merely make Fenrakk more powerful, urged the monstrous spider into the lava.

Fenrakk emerged as the Kardas Dragon, with Vezon still fused to him. Jaller had Kongu use his Suletu to project the mask’s thoughts into Vezon. As Vezon was distracted by the knowledge that the mask did not want him, Jaller fired a special Zamor at Vezon and Kardas, freezing them in time and space. With the Piraka defeated, the balance of good and evil in the universe tipped back to the light side just far enough for the Kanohi Ignika to revert to its gold color.

Kongu told Matoro to take the mask, as he learned from it while reading its thoughts that it wanted Matoro to be its guardian. Matoro easily removed the Kanohi Ignika from Vezon, but the mask sensed that it was not yet time for it to be used. It then made the now-unfrozen Kardas Dragon to free it from Matoro’s grip, and the mask flew up the staircase to the surface. The Toa chased after the Mask of Life, but it moved only close enough for them to see it. The mask eventually reached the surface and plunged into the sea, where it sensed the universe was most damaged, hoping the Toa would follow. Hahli tried to retrieve the mask, but she could not stand up against the enormous water pressure.

The Kanohi Ignika continued to sink into the ocean, but upon making contact with the Pit’s mutagenic waters, the mask slowly started to erode away, its energy being released in the form of air. It finally found salvation from the toxic water in Kyrehx, a Ga-Matoran sentry on the city’s edge. She at first believed it was a piece of debris, until the mask called to her. She rushed to the mask and returned to her post. As she did so, she recognized it for a Kanohi, and decided to show it to the council.

However, the council was not in session. She instead decided to take the mask to one of her instructors who made replicas of Kanohi. What she didn’t know, however, was that the mask had cursed her, causing plant life to attack her. When she tried to get to the school, the plants around her reached out and trapped her. Luckily, a Po-Matoran named Dekar came and rescued her from them. Suddenly, Kyrehx no longer wanted the mask, and left it behind with Dekar. He decided to take the mask to the school later, as he had to hunt. Meanwhile, a Sea Squid had sensed the mask’s power and informed its master, Kalmah. Kalmah assumed that it was the Ignika, and decided to gather together the other Barraki to take the mask and use it to resume their former forms.

During Dekar’s hunt, he encountered a Venom Eel. Finding it strange to see an extra-aggressive Venom Eel in open water, Dekar attacked it. However, the eel was always healed instantly. Giving up, he returned to the city, only to learn there were thousands of Venom Eels headed for the city. At the city wall, he manned an Air Launcher for protection. However, the damage done by it was undone instantly as well. Dekar realized it was because of the mask and decided the only thing to do was to destroy it. He swam as far away from Mahri Nui as he could, so no other Matoran would take the mask and be cursed.

On the way, however, he saw Mantax and Kalmah and they started to chase him. He barely managed to reach a cave, and was about to shatter the mask with a rock when the mask reacted. An energy beam shot out from it and enlarged a Venom Eel until it was 300 feet long to use as a Guardian.

The gigantic Venom Eel struck Dekar and Kalmah, knocking them both out. Mantax could barely get out of the way. He then fled the scene. Dekar regained consciousness and began to wonder whether the mask could use its powers without being worn. He touched the mask, and it filled his mind with its history, from its creation to when it had sunk to Mahri Nui.

Eventually, the Barraki arrived with Brutaka. Dekar threatened to destroy it, but Brutaka revealed he was part of the Order of Mata Nui, and that Dekar could trust him. Dekar, who had never heard of the Order, refused, stating that if Brutaka was destined to have the mask, he would have found it first. Kalmah then summoned a Giant Squid, which carried Brutaka away. The Barraki then moved towards the mask. Ehlek shot a jolt of electricity at Dekar, forcing him to drop the mask. Pridak grabbed it and proclaimed that even Mata Nui would fall before him. The Kanohi Ignika then did something nobody expected: it sent out a massive wave of light which illuminated the whole Pit and all of Mahri Nui. The wave of light transformed the Toa Inika into the Toa Mahri as a call for help. Shortly thereafter, the Mask of Life transformed dying Dekar into a near-duplicate of Hydraxon for additional protection.

Later, the Barraki decided to give the Mask of Life to Nocturn. He briefly possessed it, but dropped the mask while fighting the new Hydraxon. After defeating Nocturn, Hydraxon decided to destroy the the mask because of how dangerous he considered it, and opened fire on it with his Cordak Blaster. Luckily, Hahli brushed aside the bullet with a water current. During her struggle with Hydraxon, Mantax stole the mask and was cursed. He then demanded that the other Barraki meet with him. During the meeting, Mantax lost the mask when a landslide covered the group. Jaller and Matoro tried to get the mask, but were stopped by Hydraxon and then Maxilos. Jaller managed to slap at the mask and send it towards Matoro. He grabbed it and managed to escape with the mask.

Before the Cord was shattered by the Toa Mahri, Gadunka, the 300-foot-long-Venom Eel, and an ancient sea monster attacked the team. During the fight, Gadunka was able to grab the Kanohi Ignika. Responding out of fear, the mask cursed Gardunka, making it shink. Hydraxon then tried to take the mask, but was talked out of it by Matoro. After the Cord was shattered, Matoro began to follow the island to where the mask needed to be used. Unfortunately, it was too late. Mata Nui died, and the mask stopped glowing.

However, Matoro continued to follow Voya Nui to the mainland, hoping against hope that there was a way to bring the Great Spirit back. He managed to dive under the island just before it sealed the hole to Karda Nui. Matoro then put on the mask at the suggestion of a mysterious voice. Once Matoro did so, he learned what was to happen and he had to die. He accepted this without fear and used the mask to teleport the Toa Mahri back to Metru Nui, as a last act of friendship. The Mask of Life then converted Matoro to energy and combined him with its powers. It used the energy to resurrect Mata Nui, giving hope once more to the universe.

After being used by Matoro, the Kanohi Ignika fell into the Swamp of Secrets. Inspired by the courage that Matoro had displayed, the Kanohi Ignika decided to experience life as a Toa. It formed a body for itself using organic molecules from the swamp. It also formed a vehicle based off the vehicles in Mahri Nui. Calling itself “Toa Ignika”, the mask/being then sensed the Toa Nuva fighting above in the area around the Stalactite Villages and flew up to join them.

Toa Ignika met up with the Toa Nuva Phantoka as they flew towards the Shadow Leech Hive. There, he saved the three Toa and the Av-Matoran by speeding up the life processes of a monstrous Rahi which was about to attack them. Stunned by Toa Ignika’s potential, the Toa Nuva welcomed him into their group, although they were not aware of his true identity nor did they recognize the mask.

Later, in the Shadow Leech Hive, Toa Ignika was portrayed as a giant monster in a mental illusion cast by Mutran. Thinking he was an enemy, the Toa Matoran attacked Toa Ignika. Confused and angry, he decided the Toa and Matoran were not worthy of life and sped up their aging. Realizing that the monster was an illusion by Mutran, the Toa pleaded with Toa Ignika to stop killing them. Pohatu then used his power to cause the ground beneath Toa Ignika to erupt. Distracted, the attack on the group stopped and Toa Ignika was pinned to the wall by Pohatu. However, Toa Ignika was then released after a stunned Pohatu realized that Toa Ignika was wearing the Mask of Life.

Toa Ignika was then captured along with the other Toa when Antroz, Chirox and Vamprah ambushed them. He was later freed by Pohatu, and helped to destroy the Shadow Leech vats by smashing through them using the Kakama Nuva. Toa Ignika then used his powers to kill the living stone that supported the hive, sending it crashing down into the swamp.

Later, during a battle in the sky, Toa Ignika was attacked by Icarax and was almost thrown off his Skyboard. Angered, he devolved the Makuta back into a biomechanical being using his powers. Upon defeating Icarax, Toa Ignika guarded him while the Toa Nuva left for the swamp, barring him from pursuing the Toa.

Later, Toa Ignika learned to speak and explained to the Toa Nuva that the balance in the universe had shifted. He also explained that he wasn’t just wearing the Mask of Life–he was the Mask of Life and warned of his deadly countdown to the death of the universe. He is currently debating on whether or not to sacrifice his new body and existence to awaken the Great Spirit.

Kanohi Kadin:

Kadin.png

The Kanohi Kadin is the Mask of Flight. It allows its user to soar through the sky under their own power. The user does not need a running start to get off the ground, as is needed by Kanohi Miru. The Noble version allows the user to fly, but not as fast and or as long as the Great.

Kanohi Volitak:

Volitak.png

The Kanohi Volitak is the Mask of Stealth. It allows its user to become mostly transparent and completely silent. However, they will still cast a shadow. The only masks which will see through its usage are the Kanohi Elda, Kanohi Arthron, and Kanohi Rode.

Kanohi Shelek:

Shelek.png

The Kanohi Shelek is the Mask of Silence. It allows its user to simultanously disable a target’s ability to speak and hear.

Kanohi of Rahi Control:

Noimage.jpg

The Mask of Rahi Control is a Kanohi that allows its user to control one or more Rahi simultaneously. The mask power is not as effective on insects as it is on other types of Rahi. Rahi typically do not have enough willpower to resist the mask-user’s control, with the possible exceptions of Krahka and Keetongu.

Kanohi Pakari Nuva:

The Pakari Nuva is the Kanohi Nuva Mask of Strength, created when a Kanohi Pakari is dipped in Energized Protodermis. It grants its user and those nearby the maximum amount of strength their muscles can withstand. The only beings able to use this mask are Toa Nuva.

Kanohi Garai:

The Kanohi Garai is the Mask of Gravity. It allows its user to increase or decrease a target’s gravity. Its power cannot be used by the wearer on themself. This mask is one of the few to have Elemental Powers, although it will not boost the user’s powers if they already have gravity abilities.

Although a Kanohi Garai can be crafted from a Kanoka of Gravity, Hewkii’s was not. It was transformed from a Kanohi Sanok into its current state by the Kanohi Ignika.

Kanohi Mohtrek:

The Kanohi Mohtrek is the Mask of Time Duplication. It allows its user to transport one or more past versions of themself to the present. When these past selves are returned to their time(s), all memories of what they did are erased. However, all physical side effects are kept. It is for this reason that Bitil doesn’t plan to summon past selves from before he entered the Swamp of Secrets, for fear that they will lose their powers. If a past self is killed, the user will vanish, and an alternate timeline where they did not exist will be created. The amount of concentration required to keep the past selves in the present increases with the amount summoned.

Kanohi Kakama Nuva:

The Kakama Nuva is the Kanohi Nuva Mask of Speed, formed by immersing a Kanohi Kakama in Energized Protodermis. It allows its user and those nearby to cross large distances in an instant. It also allows the user(s) to pass through objects without harm by vibrating their molecules. The mask increases the user'(s) reflexes and senses. Combined with the power of a Kanohi Miru Nuva, one can levitate at high speeds. The only beings able to use this mask are Toa Nuva.

Kanohi Miru are created from Teleport and Weaken Kanoka disks on Metru Nui.

Kanohi Mahiki:

Kanohi Mahiki.png

Kanohi Zatth:

The Kanohi Zatth is the Mask of Summoning. It allows its user to randomly summon one or more Rahi to their location for help. However, the user has no control over what Rahi will be called, nor control of them once they arrive. The Rahi summoned must be able to share the user’s environment. Additionally, the user cannot use a Kanohi Zatth to send Rahi away.

The Kanohi Elda is the Mask of Detection. It allows its user to sense hidden beings in the area, such as an Kanohi Iden-user or a Kanohi Huna-user. It also lets the user detect the Kanohi Ignika’s presence, indicating to its user how near the Mask of Life is through increasingly strong headaches. There are only a few Great versions because its main purpose is to locate the Mask of Life. A Kanohi Elda is always on at a low level.

Kanohi Faxon:

The Kanohi Faxon is the Mask of Kindred. The Great version allows its user to mimic the powers of any Rahi they know that share their general environment (a Toa underwater can copy sea Rahi powers, while a Toa on land can only copy land Rahi powers). The Noble version would let its user copy the powers of any Rahi that share their specific environment (only desert Rahi as opposed to all land Rahi). This mask has been noted for its usefulness for those who have a good knowledge of Rahi.

Kanohi Avsa:

The Kanohi Avsa is the Mask of Hunger. It allows its user to drain light, energy, or positive emotions from a target at a distance. The user will absorb the energy removed from their target. This mask can be used to make lightless beings such as Shadow Matoran.

Kanohi of Clairvoyance:

Noimage.jpg

The Mask of Clairvoyance is a Kanohi that allows its user to see into the near future. While the user can foresee the future, they cannot do anything to change it. Using the mask is very exhuasting and debilitating; the mask uses the user, in a sense, rather than the other way around. This is because the user has no control over what the mask shows them. A Mask of Clairvoyance is always on at a low level.

Kanohi Kaukau Nuva:

The Kaukau Nuva is the Kanohi Nuva Mask of Water Breathing, formed when a normal Kanohi Kaukau is immersed in Energized Protodermis. It allows its user and those nearby to breathe only water at any depth and withstand water pressure for an unlimited amount of time. It can be used to suffocate enemies by sharing the power, although a Toa would consider that to be immoral. The only beings able to use this mask are Toa Nuva.

Freezing Masks, Legendary Ice Masks

Like the Fire Kanohi, The Ice Kanohi is freezing cold and white.

Kanohi Akaku:

Akaku.png

The Kanohi Akaku is the Mask of X-Ray Vision, sometimes called the Mask of Vision. It allows its user to see through solid objects. The only material it can’t see through is the Protodermis layer that makes up Metru Nui’s dome. Kanohi Akaku are commonly fitted with telescopic lenses to give their users enhanced vision.

On Metru Nui, Kanohi Akaku are crafted from Kanoka of Regeneration and Teleportation.

Kanohi Matatu:

The Kanohi Matatu is the Mask of Telekinesis. It allows its user to move targets within their range of view by thinking and lets them project force by thought (i.e. a telekinetic punch).

Kanohi Matatu are made from Teleport and Shrink Kanoka on Metru Nui.

Kanohi Iden:

Iden.png

The Kanohi Iden is the Mask of Spirit. It allows its user to release their spirit from their body. While released, their spirit can move at great speeds and inhabit other live (yet spiritless) bodies or self-powered robots like Exo-Toa. Their body will become limp, as there is nothing to inhabit it. Only those who wear Kanohi Elda or Kanohi Rode can see and communicate to the user’s released spirit.

While released, the user’s spirit cannot access any of their body’s powers. This is because the use of powers requires a union of the spirit and the body. Released, the user’s spirit is separate from their body, so they cannot use their powers. Their body is also vulnerable, as they have no way to protect it themselves. If the user’s body is destroyed, their spirit will eventually fade away, as they have no body to return to.

Kanohi Tryna:

Tryna.png

The Kanohi Tryna is the Mask of Reanimation. It allows its user to give artificial life to and control dead bodies for as long as they maintain concentration.

Kanohi Crast:

The Kanohi Crast is the Mask of Repulsion. It allows its user to repel other objects for offense or defense; the target cannot touch the user, and is flung away with considerable force. The user can also achieve limited flight by repelling the ground.

Kanohi Akaku Nuva:

The Akaku Nuva is the Kanohi Nuva Mask of X-Ray Vision, created when a Kanohi Akaku is dipped in Energized Protodermis. It allows its user and those nearby to see through objects and illusions. They are fitted with a telescopic lens to give the user(s) enhanced viewing. For some reason, this mask’s power cannot pierce certain materials, such as Karda Nui’s mist and the Metru Nui dome. The only beings able to use this mask are Toa Nuva.

Flaming Hot Fire Kanohi

Each Toa has a mask and each with it’s own unique power. Without it the Toa are useless or may kill others.

Kanohi Hau (Mask of Shielding):

Jaller/Lhikan's Kanohi Hau

The Kanohi Hau is the Mask of Shielding. It allows its user to protect themselves against any physical attack they are aware of by throwing up a force shield. The difference between the Great and Noble versions is that the Great Hau forms a stronger and longer-lasting shield than the Noble Hau.

Kanohi Hau are made from Growth and Regeneration Kanoka on Metru Nui.

The most iconic Kanohi Hau is Lhikan’s. It was transformed into its Noble version when he became a Turaga. Before he died, he entrusted it to Vakama. Vakama later gave the mask to Jaller on Mata Nui. He wore it for over 1000 years, until Karzahni forced him to exchange it for a powerless Kanohi Calix. Shortly afterwards, while battling Icarax, Gali Nuva unleashed a Nova Blast, destroying Karzahni and bringing the mask afloat. Tahu retrieved it.

Kanohi Huna (Mask of Concealment):

The Kanohi Huna is the Mask of Concealment. The Great Kanohi Huna allows its user to turn completely invisible, although their shadow remains and they can still be heard. The Noble version does the same thing, although the effect’s duration is much less than that of the Great. The only masks which will see through its usage are the Kanohi Elda, Kanohi Arthron, and Kanohi Rode.

On Metru Nui, Kanohi Huna are made from Shrink, Enlarge, and Freeze Kanoka.

Kanohi Calix (Mask of Fate):

The Kanohi Calix is the Mask of Fate. It allows its user to perform at the absolute peak of their natural physical abilities (such as seemingly impossible leaps, dodges, flips, etc.) so that they move and react better than almost any unenhanced member of their species. It also alters probability to help accomplish this.

Below is a quote from Greg Farshtey on how the Kanohi Calix works:

“No, it doesn’t allow him to do anything–it doesn’t make him invulnerable or allow him to fly or something. It allows him to do things he would be able to do within reason (like leap, dodge, etc.), just in ways that would seem miraculous to an outsider. So, for example, Zaktan fires his eyebeams at Jaller from close range, so that you would think he could never dodge in time–and the mask lets him dodge. Jaller has to leap across a crevasse to save Hahli, and it’s such a long leap that normally he would not make it–but the mask lets him get across.”

Kanohi Anthron (Mask of Sonar):

Arthron.PNG

The Kanohi Arthron is the Mask of Sonar. It allows its user to sense the movement and positions of targets through echolocation. The wearer can also use this mask to examine their surroundings in darkness. This mask is one of the few that can detect an invisible target (like a Kanohi Huna-user). As with real sonar, it identifies the general shape and movement of its target, but does not provide details. A Kanohi Arthron is always on at a low level.

Kanohi Jutlin:

The Kanohi Jutlin is the Mask of Corruption. It allows its user to corrode inanimate objects within their range of vision by causing them to decompose and break down.

Kanohi Kiril:

BH Dume's Kanohi Kiril.pngThe Kanohi Kiril in set form.

The Kanohi Kiril is the Mask of Regeneration. It allows its user to repair damage to inorganic objects they can see. Only the Great can regenerate Protosteel. The amount of damage the user can repair varies between the Great and Noble. Neither version can heal organic damage.

On Metru Nui, Kanohi Kiril are made from Regeneration Kanoka.

Kanohi Pehkui:

BH Kanohi Pehkui.PNGThe Kanohi Pehkui in set form.

The Kanohi Pehkui is the tMask of Diminishment. It allows its user to shrink themselves and their tools down to a minimum of six inches while still retaining their full strength and power capacity.

On Metru Nui, Kanohi Pehkui are made from Shrink Kanoka.

Kanohi Hau Nuva:

The Hau Nuva is the Kanohi Nuva Mask of Shielding, formed when a Kanohi Hau is immersed in Energized Protodermis. The Hau Nuva allows its user and those nearby to shield themselves from physical attack they are aware of. The only beings able to use this mask are Toa Nuva.
